Job Description

As an automation engineer, you will be responsible for configuring, programming, and optimizing DCS systems to ensure stable and efficient operations. You will participate in projects from design and construction to commissioning and validation. You will perform troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of control systems and process equipment, as well as integrate DCS with PLC, SCADA, and/or MES systems. You will ensure that all automation solutions meet GMP, GAMP 5, and regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will participate in technical discussions and design phases of automation solutions, FAT/SAT, qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), and documentation, as well as contribute to improvement projects and the implementation of new technologies, which may involve travel.

Qualifications

You will:

  • Program, configure, and optimize Siemens SIMATIC PCS 7 including Batch, CFC/SFC, and HMI/OS.
  • Participate in the entire project chain – from feasibility study and design to commissioning, validation, and documentation.
  • Integrate DCS with PLC, SCADA, and MES solutions.
  • Ensure that all automation solutions meet GMP, GAMP 5, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to improvement projects and the implementation of new technologies.

Examples of systems and equipment you will work with

  • Siemens PCS 7 and related communication solutions: Profibus, Profinet, OPC
  • Safety functions and redundant systems
  • Process equipment for pharmaceutical manufacturing (e.g., mixers, reactors, filling lines)

We are looking for someone who has:

  • At least 3 years of documented experience with Siemens PCS 7 or similar DCS systems, including configuration, programming, and commissioning.
  • Experience in Life Science, pharmaceuticals, food, energy, or other regulated industries.
  • Good knowledge of industrial communication protocols and networks.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Technical education at the college/university level in automation, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with integration between DCS and PLC/SCADA/MES.
